SLEEP TRAINING TIPS | HOW TO GET YOUR BABY TO SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT

How to Make Your Baby Sleep Through The Night

1. Establish A Consistent Bed Time Routine

Consistency is key when it comes to helping your baby wind down for bedtime. Whether it’s a warm bath, gentle massage, or bedtime story, creating a calming routine signals to your baby that it’s time to sleep.

2. Create A Relaxing Sleep Environment

Make sure your baby’s sleep space is conducive to restful sleep. Keep the room dark, quiet, and comfortably cool, and consider using white noise or a soothing lullaby to drown out any background noise.

3. Encourage Self Soothing

Teaching your baby to self-soothe is an essential part of sleep training. While it’s natural to want to comfort your baby at every cry, giving them the opportunity to learn how to soothe themselves back to sleep can help promote longer stretches of sleep.

4. Offer A Comfort Object

Introducing a comfort object, such as a soft blanket or stuffed animal, can provide your baby with a sense of security and comfort during the night.

5. Make Sure They Don’t Sleep Hungry

Ensuring your baby is well-fed before bedtime can help prevent hunger-related wake-ups during the night. Consider offering a final feeding before putting your baby down for the night.

6. Bath Time

The warm water of bath time helps regulate your baby’s body temperature, providing a comforting and relaxing experience. As your baby enjoys the soothing sensation of warm water, their muscles naturally unwind, and their nervous system calms down. This relaxation promotes a sense of calmness and prepares your baby for a restful night’s sleep.

7. Magnesium Oil On Feet

Magnesium oil is a natural sleep aid (better & safer than melatonin) that can help relax your baby’s muscles and promote a deeper, more restful sleep.  Simply spray a small amount of magnesium oil on your baby’s feet before bedtime to help them unwind and drift off to sleep more easily. I love this one from Veenourish, it only has 2 ingredients water and magnesium and it’s 100% safe for babies.

8. Time Their Naps

It’s important to time your child’s naps because it help create a routine. It will also keep your child from over sleeping which can make it harder for them for them to fall asleep at night and even harder to sleep through the night.

9. Tire Them Out

Engage your children in indoor or outdoor activities. Tiring your little ones out before bed can help them go to sleep faster and even help them achieve a deeper sleep for longer periods.

Sleep training is NOT easy

If you feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing is working, my advice to you is to be patient.

Sleep training DOESN’T happen overnight.

You’re going to be tired, it’s going to be stressful.

Just remember that if you’re consistent, you’ll see results fast!
