Toddler Behavior Problems You Need To Start Correcting
Are you looking for ways to correct toddler behavior problems?
If so, you’re at the right place.
Kids are smart as hell. But they don’t quite understand everything yet. They’re growing and learning every day, and it’s our jobs as parents to teach them right from wrong.
I have an 18 month old toddler, and he is the sweetest and funniest little guy. But, he also has his moments. I’m a pretty chill mom to be honest, I just tell him to have fun, stay out of trouble and we’re good. However, if he does do something he’s not supposed to, we’re going to have a talk. There’s a few things I’m just totally not okay with.
I never want my child to turn bad behaviors into habits so I always make sure to correct them RIGHT AWAY! When you correct toddler behavior problems instantly, it’s easier for the child to understand what you’re talking about. And, easier for them to understand that it shouldn’t be done again.
You should also be consistent when correcting the behavior. It’s tough but, I like to remind myself that it’s the best time to teach them. It’s harder to correct the behavior when they get older.
There’s 12 toddler behaviors that I absolutely never ignore and you shouldn’t either. I’ve listed them below. I’ll also be sharing why toddlers behave this way and ideas on how to correct these behaviors, so please keep reading.

Why Do These Behaviors Take Place?
Before you correct these toddler behavior problems it’s important that you understand why they occur in the first place. The reason why toddlers act this way is because they’re new to this world and they don’t know any other way to cope with their feelings. And because they don’t know that what they’re doing is actually wrong.
Why Should You Correct These Behaviors?
You want to correct these toddler behavior problems because you want your child to know when something is right or wrong. If you don’t correct a bad behavior your kid is going to think it’s okay to keep doing it.
Sometimes kids act this way for good reasons, they’re either hungry, tired, bored or sick but they should still be corrected. You need to let them know that there’s other ways to communicate with you.
Another reason why you want to correct bad behavior is because you never want to experience an embarrassing store run with your kid. Enforcing good behavior at home will prevent bad behavior when you’re out and about.
Lastly, some of these behaviors are not only wrong and embarrassing but they’re also dangerous. For example #4, luckily I’ve caught my child every time that he’s thrown his head back but what if I didn’t catch him one of those times? He could have fell back and hit his head on the floor.
How To Correct These Toddler Behaviors?
When I say “correct” I don’t mean yell, hit or punish. I simply mean have a talk with them and tell them that what they did was wrong. Believe it or not communicating the right way is enough to get your toddler to listen.
If you want to know how to communicate with your toddler the right way, while teaching them better ways to deal with their emotions, I’ve shared a few tips here.
You’ll learn a very effective way to communicate with your little ones using emotional validation. Emotional validation is how I have been correcting difficult toddler behavior. It’s a great way for your child to better understand you and communicate back more effectively.
It can also be very excited for toddler to behave good when you keep track of how many times they listen and use a toddler behavior chart with stickers. Many teachers use them at school to encourage positive behavior.
Toddler Behavior Chart
We very often have to deal with toddler behavior problems like tantrums because your toddler is not getting what they want.
For example, my toddler use to throw tantrum every time that it was time to brush his teeth. I started to use this toddler behavior chart and stickers to get him excited to brush and to avoid the negative behavior and it works.
A toddler behavior chart can help your toddler stay motivated to stay on track. You can even use rewards, I usually just use stickers but many parents use toys, and sometimes even candy.
However, I don’t think that’s a good idea because if one day they don’t get a reward they might be upset about it and they might not want to listen anymore.
Here is a toddler behavior chart printable that you can download for free or you can also download a toddler behavior chart template here.
